NBC News: Firewalk participants defend Tony Robbins after dozens treated for burns

This NBC News article reports on a small number of people being treated for minor burns at the Dallas firewalk and the reactions of actual Unleash the Power participants.

One participant, Bo Luxman, reported to NBC that the Dallas event of June 2016 was his sixth Unleash the Power event in the last five years. Luxman has done the firewalk each of those years and has never been burned. He reported that the Tony Robbins firewalk is “[A]n amazing, outstanding experience every time.” Luxman pointed out that there were more than 7,000 people there who walked over the coals successfully with no issues and that he felt the news reports were “definitely blown out of proportion.”

NBC also interviewed participant Steve Boyd. Boyd said that few participants were even aware that anything out of the ordinary was happening, and that even when the ambulances were present, the participants kept walking over the coals. He also commented on how Tony Robbins “somehow brings so much into one event. It’s not just about walking on fire — really, the firewalk is minuscule compared to the power that carries on throughout the rest of the event in terms of all categories of life.”
